KUCHING: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is currently recovering after falling ill while out of the country.
According to the statement by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali today, there is no need to appoint an acting Head of State during this period.
Even though Taib is not here, Sharifah said, he remains in communication with the state government and can fulfill his official and constitutional duties.
The state government receives regular updates on his medical status, and any further actions will follow the State Constitution and prioritise the interests of the state.
