THE late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud was fair to all by ensuring that there was a representative among all sub-ethnic groups.
Datuk Henry Harry Jinep (GPS-Tasik Biru) said that during the tenure of the late Taib as chief minister for 33 years, Sarawak maintained its peace and harmony.
“We observe that he has been very fair to all races, for example in this August house we see all sub-ethnic groups representing their constituencies.
“The late Taib was pivotal to Sarawak’s harmony, as we can see in the Bidayuh community we have representatives in Serian, Mambong, Padawan and from Bau.
“In Bau we have representatives from Singai, and also representatives from the Orang Ulu community and similarly to the Malay, and the Kedayan community,” he said when debating in support of the motion of appreciation to the former TYT today.
Jinep said the former governor, who remained fair to all the ethnic groups, is a testament to his tremendous leadership.
“The late Tun Taib was very close to my late father, he is considered as a family friend to the Jinep family.
“When my name was being proposed to be nominated in 2016, I asked for his permission and sought his blessings to stand for Barisan Nasional at the time,” he said.
