MUKAH: Traders must not waste the opportunity provided by the Sarawak Government via the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 8.0.
Tellian Assemblyman Royston Valentine, all groups including small and medium-sized industry (SME) traders must therefore be more creative and innovative in making business improvements.
“BKSS 8.0 is to provide benefit to small and medium traders, especially those who are from the B40 group.
“The deduction of utility payments for the people, the distribution of grants and the reduction and exemption of rentals for premises is to help them survive,” he said when contacted by Suara Sarawak on Saturday (Jan 29).
In fact, he said, traders would now be able to return to their businesses after facing various challenges during this pandemic period.
“This can also help boost the socio-economic development of the community in sub-urban areas and small towns,” he said.
On Friday, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that BKSS would be continued for the eighth time would include seven measures that were announced during the 2022 State Budget.
It involves electricity bill discount, water bill discount, 50 per cent discount on Sarawak Development Corporation (HDC) Housing Scheme rent, 50 per cent discount on market rent and Local Authority (PBT) stalls, one -off incentive to small ferry boat owners, registered van operators, taxi drivers, school bus and van operators and one -off grants to hawkers and small traders registered with local authorities through Sarawak Pay.
