KUCHING: Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Golongan B40 (PeKa B40) by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd is targeting to screen some 22,266 of beneficiaries.
This is in line with the national overall goal to screen at least 200,000 beneficiaries with the objective of screening twice as many people as the PeKa B40 in 2021, which numbered 101,673.
ProtectHealth is encouraging eligible Sarawakians who are 40 years or older in the B40 income group to receive a free health screening through PeKa B40 so they can take advantage of other benefits, including Health Aid (HA), Completing Cancer Treatment Incentive (CCTI) and Transportation Incentive (TI).
ProtectHealth chief executive officer Datuk Dr Anas Alam Faizl said that 88,089 people in Sarawak had received the free health screening since PeKa B40 was implemented from April 15, 2019 to June 30, 2021.
Anas highlighted that compared to the same period this year, the number of beneficiaries screened in Sarawak between Jan 1 and June 30 of last year increased by 84 per cent, from 6,390 to 11,778.
“Early detection would also lessen Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) consequences, which would improve people’s quality of life.
“Therefore, we have been starting a series of engagements and outreaches all over the country, to create awareness about PeKa B40 and make the programme more accessible to the rakyat.”
The PeKa B40 scheme in Sarawak is supported by 146 general practitioners, 138 government clinics, 23 government hospitals and five pathology labs.
