SIBU: The younger generation has been urged to take advantage of the policy on automatic voter registration of all Malaysians aged 18 and above.
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government II Michael Tiang said they must be concerned about politics and pay attention to the policies implemented by the government.
He added that the group should not assume that politics has nothing to do with them.
“The implementation of Undi18 enables them to vote when the election comes.
“Besides that, they also need to pay attention to various policies implemented by the government so that they do not miss the opportunity to benefit from the policy,” explained the Pelawan assemblyman in his statement, read by his representative councillor Ling Hua Wee during the closing of the talent workshop organised by Sibu Methodist Youth here today.
He also said that the government must pay attention and benefit the youth through the implementation of the policy.
“Politics and life are closely linked, in fact, both are inseparable,” he said, citing as example the implementation of Housing Loan Assistance Scheme (SBPP).
“The policy allows first-time home buyers in the B40 and M40 groups to reduce the burden of downpayment when buying a house.
“Actually, the policy is more focused on the younger generation because they have just graduated and entered the society, thus their savings are limited.
“For that reason, the Sarawak government is implementing this policy and providing an allocation of RM 10,000 to enable young people to achieve their dreams of owning their own house,” he explained.
Also present were Sibu Methodist Youth Director Reverend Kiew Tie Siong and Sibu Methodist Cultural Centre chief Johnson Wee.
