KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has called on the people to take the enforced standard operating procedures (SOPs) seriously.
He said they must be willing to sacrifice some of the comforts of ordinary life in order to ensure the safety of all from the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added the restrictions and protocols imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19 brought about difficulties in daily life but were necessary.
Abang Johari also pointed out that Kuching had been re-categorised as a red zone due to the rise in the number of infections recently.
“For our brothers and sisters who are in the green zones, I hope and pray that you always comply with the directives of the authorities and protocols imposed, especially social distancing and wearing of face masks so that the green zones remain green,” he urged in his Hari Raya Aidiladha message.
“Let us celebrate this great day together with full gratitude and faith while also strengthening ties so that we can produce an ummah (Muslim community) which not only achieves success in the world but also receives the blessings of God in the hereafter,” he said.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with Aidiladha, Abang Johari called on the people to reflect upon themselves the history of the prophets (anbiya’) who were always obedient to the commandments of God.
