SIBU: Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang said it is a top priority in Sibu to grow into a world class city.

He highlighted this goal even as Sarawak continues to forge ahead towards greater growth and development, spearheaded by the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030.

“The fundamental step being taking care of the needs of the local people, by enhancing their welfare and protection needs,” he said at the opening of Generali Malaysia ‘s new integrated Sibu branch here Tuesday (Sept 3).

Tiang said it gives him great pride to know that a global insurer like Generali recognises the immense potential of Sibu and has been actively contributing to its continued growth.

He said its presence in the central region of Sarawak gives a much-needed boost for Sibu’s economic growth, as well as fosters inclusive employment opportunities among the people.

He stated that this new integrated branch offers a wide range of services, combining general and life insurance under one roof.
