MIRI: Are you suffering from hoarding syndrome? In layman’s term it simply means the habit of overly collecting things due to obsession.

If you are one of those suffering this disorder, you are invited to join a talk session on hoarding syndrome organised by the 5S Committee of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here on June 28.

The session is being held in collaboration with Miri Hospital which will see psychiatrist Dr Rajesh Sathyamoorthy and psychiatric medical officer Dr Frederick Tonen as speakers sharing their expert views on the topic.

“People with hoarding disorder normally have difficulties in throwing and being separated with their belongings as they feel that the items are a necessity even though they have no value and are no longer needed.

“Realising the importance to spread awareness and tips on how to handle this mental health issue, the organiser is collaborating with Miri Hospital to host the session,” Pustaka Negeri Sarawak said in a statement today.
