SERIAN: Discussions between the state government and the Ministry of Education (MoE) on implementing Sarawak’s own assessment system have led to many positive outcomes.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn expressed gratitude to the MoE, stating that the ministry has always been supportive of the proposals made by the Sarawak government.
“We have been having discussions with them on and off since last year. We will continue to strive to expedite matters as there are many other issues we need to address.
“We look forward to working closely with them to provide better education for our people,” he said.
He told reporters this after officiating at the Hydrogen and Tech Safari 4.0 Serian at the Serian Conference Centre (SCC) today.
On the programme, Sagah lauded the endeavour of Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), saying it is always active in highlighting the importance of technology.
He noted that CENTEXS is renowned for its programmes that offer internationally recognised certification, positioning it as a leader in human capital development and innovative technology.
CENTEXS, he added, has been at the forefront of providing programmes and testbeds in the technology transition for electric vehicles (EVs), aviation, robotics programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
“CENTEXS has always been relentless in its efforts and programmes, taking various approaches in line with its commitment to collaborate with industries, including the development of renewable energy and others, for the prosperity of Sarawak.
“I hope the efforts of CENTEXS will always continue,” he said.
On the same note, CENTEXS chief executive officer Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussein Wan Abd Rahman said the programme was an initiative to explore and apply the latest technology in the hydrogen field.
He stressed that in an increasingly advanced and complex world, mastery in these fields is key to the country’s success and progress.
“As the younger generation who will inherit this world, it is important for all of you to understand and participate in technological developments that can have a significant impact on our lives.
“The Hydrogen and Tech Safari programme is not only aimed at introducing you to the latest technology but also inspiring you to venture into the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM),” he said.
The one-day event, which was organised by CENTEXS, is also a collaboration with the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and supported by MEITD and the Sarawak Foundation.
The programme, which involved 360 students from nine schools in Serian, also saw participation from several industry players.
