BINTULU: A total of 2,500 boxes and packets of red dates have been distributed by the Tanjong Batu Service Center to four Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) in the constituency recently.
The four JKKKs selected were from Kpg Assyakirin Phase one, phase two and phase three, as well as Kpg Jabai village. Contribution in kinds were also distributed to government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) around Bintulu.
According to Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang he said the distribution of red dates has always been an annual traditional programme at the service center during the month of Ramadan.
He added that besides distributing red dates, they also distribute leaflets on Ramadan breaking fast and pre-dawn (sahur) meal schedules for reference throughout this month of Ramadan.
“This is an annual program of this service center as a sign of respect for the diversity of ethnicities and religious differences in this area, thus indicating that we also care about them,” he said when met during the distribution FOR Ramadan donations.
