KUCHING: Ngo Siik Mee has told Tony Chiew, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate for Bintulu, to not make any more excuses for the party’s failure to act in the best interests of the people, especially Bintulu folk.

Referring to the lack of parking spaces at Bintulu Hospital, Ngo, who is Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Tanjung Batu Women chief, said Chiew failed to provide plans to get a parking lot for the hospital.

“Since he (Chiew) is a member of the Bintulu Hospital Board of Visitors, what solutions has he proposed to improve the parking space issue, instead of taking the election campaign period to opportunistically bring up this issue and blame the government?

“Whose duty in the hospital inspection committee is to oversee the hospital’s operations and assist in solving problems when necessary?

“Have you forgotten your responsibility throughout the whole time?” she questioned.

Ngo pointed out that Chiew’s motive was now clear – using the parking lot issue as ammunition for his election campaign.

On the other hand, she said PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who is also contesting the same seat, had been working very closely to solve Bintulu’s issues, including the hospital parking.

“He had announced previously that the hospital parking lot would be solved as part of a wider long-term solution with a plan to meet the hospital’s needs for the next 10 to 20 years.

“The hospital will be upgraded to a semi-private hospital in cooperation with other hospitals that have both private and public wings such as Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

“Bintulu Hospital will also enjoy more upgrades to its equipment and facilities to better deliver quality medical care to the people,” Ngo said.

Compared to the zeal and dedication of the PDP president, Ngo described Chiew’s ‘No-Action-Talk-Only’ behaviour as emblematic of his entire party – blaming others to hide their failure to serve.
