KUCHING: Saberkas Tanjung Datu Branch will organise a Tanjung Datu Saberkas Carnival 2018 on this weekend, 24 until 25 February 2018, at Lundu Indoor Stadium.
The Chairman of Saberkas Tanjung Datu Branch, Sr Ramdan Mahri revealed that the objective of the carnival would be to enliven the town as well as to attract the youth to participate in the carnival.
“Our focus is to attract the youth as we want to increase the number of members. At the moment, we have more than a thousand members and we are targeting to enrol around 200 to 500 new members,” he said during a press conference at Riveredge Commercial Centre, Jalan Merdeka here yesterday.
He would grace the opening ceremony on February 24, while the closing ceremony on 25 February would be graced by Tanjung Datu State Assemblywoman, Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.
Among the activities to be held during the carnival include PS4 Fifa E-Games Tournament, Car and Motorcycle Autoshow Competition, Culture and Busking performances, Lundu and Sematan Youth Entrepreneurs Booth sales, motorbike convoy from Sematan to Lundu and registration counter for Saberkas membership.
Meanwhile, Ramdan also disclosed that Saberkas Tanjung Datu has appointed Jamilah as the Patron of the Saberkas Tanjung Datu Branch.
On the appointment of Santubong Member of Parliament, he said that he would be ready to undertake the responsibility should he be appointed to replace the current Member of Parliament, Dato’ Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
51-year-old Ramdan is the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kampung Stunggang Melayu chief.
