BAU: Tasik Biru Festival 2022 will benefit Bau residents, especially local entrepreneurs in various fields including food, handicrafts, and agriculture says Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
The Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, said that the festival was organised for the first time in a long period of 11 days compared to the previous one of only three days.
“The festival is able to improve the socio-economics of this district through the tourism and business sectors,” he stressed.
Tasik Biru Festival is the best platform for the local business community to highlight their respective talents and products yearly.
Meanwhile, Bau District Officer Anielia Siam said that the previous event which lasted for three days was too short for the entrepreneurs and visitors who attended.
“Previously, we found that organising for the weekend was too short to sell the products produced.
“Many associations and communities cannot fully enjoy the programme when it is only held on the weekend, the time is too short for them to attend,” she said
Anielia pointed out that this long period of organising allows visitors to spend their holiday at Bau as well as enjoy the programmes held.
For the record, a total of 60,000 visitors were targeted to participate in the festival which was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan on Friday (Sept 23).
Several activities are being held in conjunction with the Sarawak’s tourism-themed festival, including Jong Regata, arm wrestling, blowpipe competition, government and private agency exhibitions, and more.
