BAU: The Tasik Biru Festival has transformed the Lobuh Bau vicinity into a lively hub of community activities, bringing locals and visitors together for a celebration of culture, creativity and collaboration.

From mouth-watering food stalls to interactive demonstrations, the event offers something for all ages and interests, turning the heart of Bau into a bustling hub of festivities.

Visitors are greeted by a variety of food and drink stalls that showcase local flavours, setting the tone for a day filled with community warmth and unity. Fitness enthusiasts kick-start their day with a lively Zumba session, energising the crowd and adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival grounds.

The event also highlights local agriculture with a unique marketplace, featuring agricultural products and produce from Bau farmers. Organised by the State Farmer’ Organisation (PPK) and the Agriculture Department, this platform provides a valuable opportunity for farmers to engage with the community and promote their homegrown goods.

Beauty and fashion take centre stage as the finalists of Miss Tasik Biru 2024 grace the stage in a catwalk organised by the Association of Research & Development of Singai Sarawak (REDEEMS).

Adding a dash of cultural richness, a traditional Kuih Asli competition captures the spirit of local culinary arts. Hosted by the Agriculture Department, the contest encourages participants to showcase their skills in crafting beloved traditional kuih, bringing forward the art of heritage cooking.

Other notable attractions include a lucky draw and souvenir sale by The Food Safety and Quality Unit (KKMGB), providing attendees with a chance to win exciting prizes.

The day’s activities also feature an educational showcase with a focus on lifelong learning and robotic technology, offering interested parties with insights into educational opportunities and advancements.

For those with an interest in traditional sports, a blowpipe competition organised by Kelab Menyumpit B’suwee Bau lets participants demonstrate their skill and precision. Additionally, demonstrations of 3D LUMION modelling and daily soft makeup looks bring modern creativity into the mix, showcasing artistic and beauty techniques.

A celebration of maritime heritage, the Jong Cantik competition and exhibition by Kelab Legasi Jong D’Bau captivates onlookers with its intricately designed model boats. Attendees also get a taste of nostalgia as they join in the karaoke contest featuring classic 60s hits, presented by Serembu Service Center.

The festivity is also set to culminate in a grand concert featuring local artists later at night featuring invited guest Malaysia singer Baby Shima and many more.
