KUCHING: This year’s Tasik Biru Festival will be held this coming 28 to 30 September within the lake’s compound in Bau.
Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, hoped that the festival will attract more visitors to Bau this time.
“I hope that with this type of festivals close to Kuching, it will attract more people to come to Bau as it is good for domestic tourism.
“At the same time, we are also preparing to take the festival further so that we can attract visitors from outside.
“Hopefully, we can slot this into our tourism programme to promote Sarawak to other countries,” he said during a press conference after receiving a courtesy call from Tasik Biru State Assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep in regards to the festival at his office at Baitulmakmur building here yesterday.
The three-day festival will see a variety of activities such as lucky draws, Jong Regatta, Zumba, various tournaments and competitions, sales of handicraft and local products, and booth exhibitions from government agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
