BAU: Tasik Biru Resort City will become a new landmark in Bau District, says Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.

“This will change the landscape of Bau. I believe after the completion of the resort; other areas will be impacted by this development as well.”

He added that other areas would follow suit, becoming potential tourist destinations, thus opening up job opportunities for locals.

“I believe entrepreneurs and business owners venturing into the tourism industry are ready to welcome visitors.

“Of course, we allow locals to come (here first). If the state opens up for tourist arrivals, that would be good for business.”

He was speaking to the media during the vaccination programme for students at Kampung Serasot on Wednesday (Sept 29).

“The construction of the resort city will take longer to complete as there are some processes that need to be done thoroughly.

“The sewage system takes longer time to complete as we don’t want to pollute the lake. Waste from the chalets need to be pumped into septic tanks on land. We are following the standard procedures and planning.

“This way, we can maintain the beauty of the lake. As of now, there are four floating chalets, four chalets on land and one that looks like a bungalow.”

When asked whether development would disturb any annual festivals in the district, he said it would encourage more programmes.

“With the emergence of Tasik Biru Resort City, the number of visitors will increase, businesses like restaurants and food courts would boom and the economy will go up.”

He also looked forward to more visitors, especially from Indonesia.

“As Serikin will be upgraded into an international gateway, people travelling from Kalimantan can stay the night in the town after a long journey before going to Kuching.

“It is even better for them to explore more of what Bau has to offer, such as the Fairy Cave, Wind Cave, enjoy the food in Siniawan and other tourist destinations here.”
