BINTULU: Police here have arrested a taxi driver for reckless driving.
The taxi driver was picked up after several complaints were made against him by members of the public.
Bintulu OCPD Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspect was arrested by a team from the Bintulu District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division yesterday.
“The taxi driver was detained on Wednesday (Feb 16) and is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which if convicted, carries a prison sentence of not more than five years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000.
“I want to assure the public that we take every complaint seriously and will take the appropriate action to ensure the safety of everyone,” said Bintulu OCPD Supt Zulkipli Suhaili.
He also noted that the public providing videos and photos of offences committed by road users was very much appreciated.
