KOTA SAMARAHAN: A teacher died on the spot following a head-on collision along KM10, Jalan Samarahan-Mambong today (May 22).
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said the accident, involving a Perodua Axia and a Toyota Hilux, happened around 12.30am near a driving institute.
“Investigations found that the Hilux driven by a 45-year-old man, swerved out of control and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the oncoming Axia driven by the victim.
“As a result, the 53-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said when contacted this morning.
Her body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem procedures.
Jaimi stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, firefighters from Kota Samarahan station were also called in to perform extrication works after receiving an emergency call regarding the accident.
The team confirmed that the victim was pinned in her seat inside the Axia and they used rescue tools to extricate her from the wreckage.
Once retrieved, the operation ended at 1.30am.
