KUCHING: A kindergarten teacher from Muara Tabuan reported that she lost more than RM10,000 in cash and gold from her house last Saturday.
The teacher said when she returned home that night her house had been ransacked. The burglars had cut the grill of her kitchen window to gain entry.
She discovered that her gold necklace, bracelets and pendants were gone. Cash amounting to RM3,000 kept in her bedroom had also been stolen.
In another case, a bank clerk said she was cheated by a man from Taman Sri Wan, Jalan Menggris, Petra Jaya of her phone and RM45 in cash.
The victim from Taman Sri Cahaya, Tundong, Bau said she knew the suspect through social media. When she met him at the water front last Sunday, she passed her Samsung phone to him. He claimed that he could repair her phone which had a problem. The suspect told her that he would have it done that day and would send it to her house in Bau. However, neither he nor the phone turned up and she could not contact him anymore after that.
In still another case, a 38-year-old sales executive from Sin San Tau, Matang said he got acquainted with a man on social media who asked him to buy an RM8,000 coupon for an online game, which he did last Friday at Jalan Song in a convenience store. Then the man sent him another game to buy for RM5,000. This time the suspect asked someone else to call about the offer.
When the offer was rejected the suspect threatened to send some people to create a mess at the victim’s house. Secondly, he could lose his RM8,000.
The victim decided to report the case to the police.
