LUNDU: As the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally convoy arrived at the civic centre here, they were all touched by the warm welcome from GPS supporters.
The convoy members were welcomed with a combination of a lion dance performance, traditional Iban ngajat, Malay silat performance and sape music.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu got emotional when he delivered his speech while remembering the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem.
Adenan’s wife Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu was also in tears when Rentap talked about Adenan who was loved and well-liked by the people.
“I feel very touched. All of us here feel it too because there is so much from you all and this proves how much you loved Tok Nan and for that GPS will continue his mission which is to safeguard Sarawak’s rights,” he said.
He added that the people in Malaya only wanted to steal Sarawak’s resources and break the people apart.
“That is why the younger to the older generation must give your full support to GPS because it is an entity with all Sarawakians who will fight for the state’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He also urged the people of Lundu to give their full support to Jamilah so that she too could continue with Tok Nan’s mission.
“We must never let go of what we have to Malaya. They have taken so much to develop their own place and never cared about us,” Rentap said.
He added that the next state election is less than 900 days away and urged the people to support GPS with a hornbill as its logo.
“Only this hornbill will take us far. May God bless Sarawak,” he said.
Rentap then concluded his speech with Tok Nan’s signature poem with a slight modification by uttering “Gunung Gading, Puncak Mahligai, Buat Ketupat, Berisi Inti, Hancur Daging, Tulang Berkecai, Sayang Sarawak, Jaga Sarawak Sampai Mati!”
