SARIKEI: It is important for teachers to be proficient in technology to effectively engage and teach students in the classroom, says Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii .
He explained that teachers need to be skilled guides in using educational technology to deliver lessons in an engaging and relevant manner to students.
“The use of online learning platforms, educational apps, and smart devices has become a crucial aspect in ensuring effective learning both inside and outside the classroom.
“When incorporating the element of technology into the learning process, teachers not only open up various new learning opportunities but also shape students to become proactive, creative, and proficient individuals in using technology,” he said.
Huang, who is also the federal Deputy Minister Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability said this in his remarks during the celebration of 20th Anniversary and Appreciation Night of SMK Tinggi Sarikei here last night (Apr 6).
Adding on, he said proficiency in technology is a challenge that every educator must address nowadays to ensure that learning extends beyond the classroom.
“This is to ensure that learning not only occurs in school but also outside the classroom,” he added.
During the event, he also announced a contribution of RM500,000 to SMK Tinggi Sarikei for the school’s scholarship fund, upgrading projects and yearly activities.
Huang also presented gifts to retired teachers who had served at the school as a token of appreciation.
He thanked the teachers for all of the sacrifices, dedication, and knowledge that they have imparted to the children.
“Your spirit is honoured, your contributions are remembered,” he said.
