BINTULU: Firefighters continue to battle a blaze at Kiduronglandfill which has spread across five acres as of 11 pm last night (Sept 8).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre received an emergency call about the incident at 1.31 pm, prompting immediate response from the Bintulu and Kidurongfire stations.
According to a statement from Bomba, firefighters from the Kidurong fire station deployed a 200-foot hose connected to a water tanker at point A, while another 200-foot hose from a portable pump was used at point B.
The firefighters faced a setback when the portable pump experienced technical difficulties at 11.10 pm, leading Operation Commander Harrison Dawi to swiftly notify the engineering department.
Fortunately, a heavy downpour at the scene at 6 am today provided the firefighters with a much-needed break.
At the time of writing, firefighters are still working to control the five-acre blaze.
