KUCHING: A teenager has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor — not once but twice, despite a warning given after the first time.
The suspect, aged 19 and unemployed, from Taman Sg Moyan, RPR Tondong, Batu Kawa was arrested on Monday at 1.45pm.
According to a teacher in Stapok, she was giving counselling to a 10-year old girl (Primary Four) who claimed that she was raped by her sister’s boyfriend sometime in July.
The counselling was in July. The victim said the suspect, known by his nickname “Ajen”, raped her in her house when they were alone.
The teacher then contacted the school management and the victim’s mother was called. She was advised to bring her daughter to lodge a police report immediately.
However, the mother refused, saying that she did not want to blow things out of proportion and would talk to Ajen. That was on July 15.
On the morning of Sept 24, the victim appeared for counselling again. She told the teacher that she was overpowered and raped by Ajen again.
The teacher informed the school management and without calling the victim’s parents, they brought her to lodge a police report.
After a report was lodged, the girl’s mother was informed.
The police then asked the mother to bring her daughter to be warded at the Sarawak General Hospital for checking.
Police detained the suspect for investigation.
