KUCHING: A teenager was killed after after the motorcycle he was riding on crashed into a lamp post along Jalan Sultan Tengah earlier yesterday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 16-year-old victim identified as Mohamad Nur Isyaduddin Ibrahim from Jalan Astana, Petra Jaya was heading towards Semariang when he lost control of his vehicle at 5.25am.
“It is believed that he lost control of his motorcycle, skidded and crashing into one the lamp post,” said Alexson.
He said the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) at the scene.
The body was later sent to the SGH’s mortuary for a postmortem.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said Alexson.
