KUCHING: A teenage boy was slapped with a RM1,000 fine after attempting to sneak out of Kampung Haji Baki, where the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) is enforced, via a ‘rat trail’ (jalan tikus) last Friday night.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the 15-year-old boy committed the offense around 11.30pm.

At the time, a patrol team from the Crime Prevention Unit was monitoring the Emco standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance at Lorong 16, Block C, Kampung Haji Baki heading to the Kitang Industrial area.

“The patrol team found the boy and issued a compound to him for violating the EMCO under Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

“Investigations found that the boy did not comply with the SOPs in place; he was not supposed to leave the house after undergoing a Covid-19 screening test,” he said in a statement.

Aidil noted that the teenager was also wearing a quarantine bracelet during the incident.
