SIBU: A 16-year-old teenager succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment following a motorcycle-pickup truck accident last Sunday.
District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim, identified as Ricky David, died at 5.54am at Sibu Hospital yesterday (July 26).
The victim was involved in an accident that occurred at 4.18pm last Sunday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at Jalan Rantau Panjang.
“Initial investigation by the police found that the collision happened when the pickup truck was moving from Pasar Teku to Rantau Panjang PPR Flat.
“As the vehicles arrived at a corner, the right side of the pickup truck collided into the victim’s motorcycle coming from the opposite direction,” he said.
As a result of the crash, the victim suffered severe injuries and was rushed to hospital by his friend.
Stanley noted that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
