KUCHING: A teenage rider, who went viral on social media for provoking another road user last Thursday (Mar 14), has surrendered to the police three days later.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement, said the 18-year-old turned himself in to the Kuching Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division around 9.30 pm on Saturday (Mar 16).
“The suspect was arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Also seized was his Honda EX 5 (C100) motorcycle.
“Background checks revealed that the rider, who tested negative for drugs, did not have any prior criminal records.
“He will be remanded for two days until tomorrow (Mar 19) to facilitate investigations,” he said.
Earlier, a 1.50-minute-long dashcam footage depicting the incident went viral on social media.
In the clip, the suspect, without a visible registration number, accompanied by a pillion rider, daringly provoked road users along Jalan Demak.
The incident occurred around 5.20 pm in front of Mydin Supermarket.
