KUCHING: A teenager succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) following a two-vehicle collision early yesterday (Aug 26).
Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the accident, involving a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza, happened around 1.30 am along Jalan Tun Patinggi Abang Haji Salahuddin.
He said both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions prior to the collision.
“The deceased is a 17-year-old teenage boy and he is the pillion rider. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at 2.29 am at SGH,” he said in a statement.
Farhan said the 36-year-old Bezza driver has been taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
