SERIAN: A fatal accident has claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist on late Wednesday night which occurred along Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman.

According to the Serian District Police Chief, DSP Neil Baginda, initial investigations revealed that the victim was heading towards Sri Aman at 11.57 pm when he lost control of his motorcycle.

“The vehicle veered off to the left side of the road and crashed into a metal guardrail. The impact caused the victim to be thrown off his motorbike and landed a few distance on the road.

“Paramedics from the Balai Ringin Health Center arrived at the scene and confirmed that Michael had sustained severe head injuries and a broken right arm. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries,” he said.

The body was later transported to the Serian Hospital mortuary for further examination. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
