MIRI: A teenager was killed after she fell off a motorcycle and hit by two speeding motorcycles coming from behind.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that a report was received regarding a fatal accident at 2.56pm yesterday.

The accident happened at Jalan Taman Tungku on Tuesday (Aug 23) at 6.15pm where the motorcycle rider and the pillion rider, both women, rode together and got hit from behind by a group of riders and then fell.

“A group of riders who are age 15 to 19 were riding together on the road and speeding while one motorcycle was in front of them.

“One motorcycle from the group hit the motorcycle rider and the pillion rider from behind causing both to fall in the middle of the road.

“When both of them fell, two motorcycles from the group were speeding and eventually hit the teenage woman,” said the chief.

The motorcycle rider sustained a broken thigh, while the teenage pillion rider was seriously injured but succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Aug 25 at 11.16pm.

Following the incident, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division arrested seven male suspects, age 15 to 19, for further action.

Alexson stated that an investigation paper was opened and the incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act.
