Teenager sent to reform school for raping disabled sister

KUCHING: A teenage boy was ordered to be placed at the Tunas Bakti School for three years by the Magistrate’s Court today (Oct 3), after pleading guilty to raping his sister, who is a disabled person (PwD) until she gave birth to a baby, last March.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan made the order following the moral report hearing from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) today.

The 14-year-old teenager was charged under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code for raping his 16-year-old sister until she gave birth to a baby.

He committed the incestuous act at their home in Matang between June and July 2023.

Mason ordered the accused to be placed under the supervision of the Child Welfare Team for a period of one year after serving his sentence.

According to the facts of the case, on March 10, the complainant, who is the victim’s father, found out that his daughter, who is a displaced disabled person, was several months pregnant.

A police report was made by the complainant for further action and investigation.

The results of the investigation revealed that the victim had given birth to a baby on April 12, and samples from the victim and the accused were later taken for analysis.

Then, on May 13, DNA test results confirmed that the baby was the child of the victim and the accused.

Further investigation found that the accused had raped his sister between June and July 2023.

The prosecution of the case was handled by prosecuting officer ASP Adzmei Ahmad while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
