KUCHING: A total of eleven Telang Usan Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) youth members visited the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here on Wednesday. Dennis Ngau (GPS-Telang Usan) said the party members visited the building to witness the DUN sitting for themselves.
“They are here to witness the sitting and then return to the rural areas to disseminate information about it. This is because some rural areas do not have Internet access and the people cannot obtain information on current issues,” he told reporters when interviewed.
On the state 2020 Budget, Dennis thanked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for allocating RM1.5 billion to Telang Usan and Mulu.
“For the first time, Telang Usan and Mulu are given allocations worth RM750 million apiece. This is the biggest allocation given to the constituencies,” he said. Dennis added that the allocation would be used to develop the interior areas especially roads and clean water supply.
“Many questioned why are we getting a huge allocation. The reality is that we are severely left behind. “For example, to obtain clean water, an allocation of RM10 million is needed to build a treatment facility. This is because the geographical area is a bit of a challenge. It has a lot of hills.
“This is a testament of GPS’ commitment to develop the rural areas of Sarawak,” he reiterated.
