MUKAH: A total of RM466,000 in grants were distributed by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine to 26 recipients consisting of parent-teacher associations (PTAs), government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and village development and security committees (JKKKs) here on Friday (Dec 2).
At the same time, he also presented allocation from Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to BEM Church, Mukah amounting to RM300,000 and Mukah Baptist Church amounting to RM50,000.
Royston said he would continue helping young people in his constituency, and providing educational assistance to the underprivileged.
“Applications can be made online and manually and we will ensure that only those who are eligible and really need educational assistance get it.
“This means that the screening process will determine the eligibility of a student, unlike before, when there was a possibility that the ones who could afford also received educational assistance (meant for the needy),” he said at the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant presentation here.
Also present were acting Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip and Mukah community leader Pemanca Jali Kawi.
