MUKAH: Community and Village Chiefs (KMKK) must foster collaboration with all stakeholders and agencies to ensure the wellbeing of their respective areas, according to Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.

Speaking at the Certificate Appointment Ceremony for the Tellian State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Area, held at the Conference Hall on Level 1 of Menara Pehin Setia Raja here yesterday (Jan 17), he noted the pivotal role of KMKK as the eyes and ears of grassroots representatives.

He urged KMKK leaders to work collectively to assist the government in providing optimal services to the people.

“While the KMKK is not immune to complaints and criticisms from our community, it is crucial to focus on the positive aspects. Dwelling on negativity can adversely affect our health as we age,” he remarked.

He also advised KMKK members to communicate directly with him if they encounter challenges in their leadership areas, pointing out that every problem has a solution through cooperation among all parties.

Additionally, he addressed the pending requests in the Tellian DUN area to appoint Iban Chiefs, Chinese Chiefs, Kuala Lama Headman, and Iban Chieftain, expressing concern over the lack of response from relevant authorities.

The ceremony witnessed the extension of four Penghulus, 19 extended Village Chiefs, four new appointments, and the completion of service by three Village Chiefs.

Royston extended appreciation to the KMKK for their cooperation throughout their service and expressed hope for continued collaboration with new members.
