TELOK MELANO: The people in Telok Melano are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and his entourage.
Telok Melano is the last stop of their 11-day Kembara Kenali Borneo expedition which started on Sept 3 in Tawau, Sabah and will conclude here at kilometre 0.
The expedition covers a total distance of 2,154 km along the Pan Borneo Highway, connecting Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.
New Sarawak Tribune met with the people Telok Melano to share their excitement on welcoming the royal family entourage.

I feel very excited and enthusiastic about the arrival of the royal family. My family and I have been waiting here since 8 am. We also brought these two framed pictures to get him to sign them and one of it is for their souvenir. I hope that this will not be their first and last visit here with his family.

I feel very excited to have this opportunity to see up close the arrival of the royal family here. In representing my school, 10 of us have dressed up in Sarawak traditional costumes to highlight our local culture and diversity.

We feel happy that the Agong started the Kembara Kenali Borneo and made Telok Melano as their last stop. We are from Lundu and have been here since 8.30 am. We thank God that in our lifetime, we have the chance to meet them even once. For that, I hope that they will come here again and explore more of Sarawak.

I feel proud that Sarawak and Sabah managed to complete the Pan Borneo Highway and that the royal entourage could use the route in their expedition. I brought along my graduation photo taken in Pahang where the Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah was our Chancellor. I want to get it signed.
