MIRI: The city bid farewell to a revered community leader, Temenggong Dato Abdul Rahman Fadzail, who passed away peacefully at Miri Hospital on Sunday at the age of 82.

The late Abdul Rahman was known for his dedication and commitment to serving the local community.
His passing had left a void, and he would be deeply missed by many.

Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir, and Miri City Council (MCC) Deputy Mayor Ariffin Mohamad were among the dignitaries who paid their last respects at the At Taqwa Miri Mosque on Monday morning.

Following a prayer service, Abdul Rahman’s remains was laid to rest at the Pujut 5 Islamic Cemetery near Surau Al-Hidayah Tab Cinaq.

On Sunday, Abdul Rahman had been at Miri Airport to welcome returning Haj pilgrims when he suddenly fainted.

He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but succumbed shortly after arrival.

Abdul Rahman served as Temenggong since 2009.

In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Tokoh Maulidur Rasul in 2020.
