KUCHING: The Sam San Kuet Bong Temple in Kota Sentosa recently received an additional RM30,000 funds for upgrading its car parking lots with a new layer of bitumen.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap announced the allocation was under his constituency’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and made a visit to the site today (Jun 5) alongside Kapitan Lee Tho Fung to monitor the resurfacing works.

According to Yap, the temple management board had requested for the financial assistance after Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) indicated it could not use its annual Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) funding for resurfacing because the car parks were designated as private property.

Yap also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting both Muslim and non-Muslim religious bodies in Kota Sentosa needing financial assistance for facility upgrades through his RTP funds, provided they meet the requirements.

Previously, Yap had assisted in the upgrading of toilets for the temple costing RM50,000 under his RTP funds.

He also urged his constituents to collaborate with him to maintain and enhance social inclusivity for the benefit of all.

“This is because co-operation and support of the people will contribute to the success of all policies and programme implemented under the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030,” he added.
