The flooding at Lambir Hills National Park in Miri.

MIRI: The Lambir Hills National Park (LHNP) here is temporarily closed to the public with immediate effect due to a flood. In a press statement issued yesterday by Sarawak Forestry Corporation Sdn Bhd (SFCSB), it said that LHNP will be reopened after clearing and repair works have been completed and deemed safe for the public.

The temporary closure is due to incessant rain in the area for the past few days which has resulted in flooding of the areas surrounding national park. “Apart from that, fallen trees had also damaged the trails and this had rendered the trails impassable,” said the statement.

SFC regrets any inconvenience caused as a result of this temporary closure and would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding in this matter.

The public may contact Lambir Hills National Park Office at +6085-471609 for further inquiries and clarifications or follow our website at www.sarawakforestry. com or Facebook’s page @sarawakforestry for more updates.
