Flood victims are pleased to be home soon

SIBU: The temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Kampung Jeriah hall which accommodated 44 flood victims from Kampung Seduan Jaya here was closed today (Jan 15).

All of the flood victims are allowed to return to their homes after the flood situation improved.

Enforcement wrapped up tent used

The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) state operations control centre said, in a statement, that the water level had receded completely in Lot 482, Jeriah Barat 5, Kampung Seduan Jaya while in Lot 462 in the same area, the water level was as high as 0.3 metre.

Meanwhile, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee expressed his gratitude after the PPS was closed and all the victims were allowed to return to their homes.

“Alhamdulillah, after receiving feedback from the APM agency, fire brigade and Sibu Social Welfare Department, PPS Dewan Kampung Jeriah was closed effectively today (Saturday), 15 January 2022 at 1 pm.

“We thank all the staff involved throughout the operation of this PPS,” said the Assistant Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development.

The victims, comprising five families living in five houses, were placed in the PPS since Wednesday after their homes were hit by floods.
