KUCHING: The ‘Tender For Us’ system is set to be piloted this year for a project undertaken by the Rajang Delta Development Agency (Radda).

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh noted that the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), in collaboration with graduates from Swinburne Sarawak, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), is developing the innovative tender system.

This system aims to ensure that the most qualified companies are selected based on predetermined criteria.

“We are working together to create an electronic tender system that will aid the government in cost savings, ensure security, and enhance the speed and efficiency of the tender process.

“Last month, we briefed Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg about this system, and he suggested that we test the ‘Tender For Us’ system as a pilot for a project implemented under Radda.

“If it proves to be more effective and cost-saving, it may be expanded to other agencies and implementing bodies,” he said.

He said this after chairing the Radda Steering Committee Meeting No. 1/2024 at Wisma Sumber Alam here, on today (July 16).

Len, who is also the Tegas as well as the Radda chairman, added that this system will incorporate the latest technology and software, significantly reducing the need for physical paperwork and thereby contributing to reduced deforestation.

“This technology-based approach is more efficient and ensures security, minimising the risk of information leaks and abuse associated with traditional methods.”

On the same note, he said the upcoming Radda Steering Committee Meeting, scheduled for October, will review the latest developments regarding the next phase of implementation.

Plans include finalising larger allocations, possibly exceeding RM300 to RM500 million for the upcoming year.

He asserted that the projects prioritised by Abang Johari, follow a bottom-up approach.

“These projects are requested by the people through their elected representatives for the respective constituencies under Radda’s jurisdiction.”

Also present during the meeting were Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Ukas), Datuk Abdullah Saidol; Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin and Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.
