KUCHING: Fans of His Royal Highness, the Regent of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, continued to seize the opportunity to meet the Prince in person during his second-day visit here.

In the morning on Tuesday (Jan 16), crowds were seen waiting outside the Petroleum Sarawak Berhad’s (Petros) office located at Icom Square, which was one of the Prince’s scheduled visits.

Tengku Hassanal arrived at around 9.20am and was accompanied by Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, and Petros chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo, along with other Petros staff.

He was briefed by Petros chief executive officer Datuk Janin Girie on Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) in Sarawak.

Later, Tengku Hassanal proceeded to Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) Tower in Jalan Isthmus here.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi and Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah were among those present to welcome his arrival.

In the afternoon, Tengku Hassanal continued to the Borneo Cultures Museum, followed by a state banquet in the evening.

A larger crowd eagerly awaited the opportunity for a ‘selfie’ and ‘wefie’ with the Prince, even requesting his signature.

Among those attending will be Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other delegates.

Tengku Hassanal is on a five-day official visit to Sarawak. He arrived in the city on Jan 15 and is scheduled to leave on Jan 19.

Last year, Tengku Hassanal joined Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah for the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ expedition from Sabah to Sarawak.

The Sarawakian community was further captivated when the young Prince affectionately addressed them as his ‘cousins’.
