KUCHING: Communication and Digital Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching is looking forward to working closely with the Sarawak government on improving internet coverage in the state.
She said on her next visit to the city, she would like to meet the Premier and Deputy Premiers to look into the matters concerning internet connectivity in the state.
“Today (Mar 19) is my first working trip to Sarawak since I was appointed as Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital.
“I bumped into Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and had a very nice conversation with him.
“Unfortunately, this is a rather short trip, but next time when I come here (Sarawak), I hope to visit the Premier and some of the Deputy Premiers and relevant ministry so that can we can work closely to improve not just internet coverage but other services covered under my ministry,” she said.
She said this to reporters after paying an official visit to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Sarawak here on Sunday (Mar 19).
On the purpose of her visit, Teo said it was to meet the officers and agencies under her ministry and to build rapport among each other.
“Sarawak is a very important ‘wilayah’ (region), so I feel very happy that I have this opportunity to come here despite the short working visit. But at least it is a good start,” she said.
Teo added she and her Minister Fahmi Fadzil will try their best to visit every state in the country in order to get a better understanding of the situation they are facing.
Teo who is Kulai MP arrived here earlier during the day and is scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur the same night.
