KUALA LUMPUR: The Territorial Army Regiment (RAW) will be empowered to ensure it becomes integrated, agile, and focused on the future growth of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).
Army deputy chief Lt Gen Datuk Tengku Muhammad Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim said this is in line with the first order of the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, and Army chief Hafizuddeain Jantan on Oct 23 and 31.
“This empowerment must take a more creative and innovative approach to instil sustained interest and commitment among the territorial soldiers to be active in the planned training.
“The solid commitment from MAF chief and army chief is also a catalyst for the soldiers to continue being competitive and reliable when the situation warrants it,” he said during the Territorial Army Commanders’ Conference (SKAW) at Dewan Senat Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu.
Also present at the conference was AW 512 Regiment Commander Brig Gen Datuk Seri Raja Tengku Baharuddin Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, who was the host.
SKAW is a forum for the discussion of matters related to recruitment, training management, administration, and development of the Territorial Army, and also functions as an advisor to the Army chief on all matters concerning its personnel.
During the forum, participants were informed on the Defence White Paper, National Defence Strategy 2.0, and the relevance of the Territorial Army in the aspect of national defence. – BERNAMA
