LIMBANG: A 49 year-old woman was injured when a shophouse caught fire this morning (April 9) at Jalan Sungai Kudung, Kampung Bunga Raya.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue department Operations Centre (PGO), the victim, who is the owner of the shophouse, was taken to Limbang Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, her male worker,18, was unharmed during the incident.
Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 10.32 am, a team of firefighters and EMRS personnel were dispatched to the scene immediately.
The fire completely destroyed the first floor of the shophouse where textiles were stored. The firefighters successfully brought the fire under control by 11.11 am, and the operation was concluded 29 minutes later.
However, the cause of the incident is still unknown and is being investigated by the Fire and Rescue officials.
