KUCHING: Tabung Haji Board of Directors or better known as LembagaTabung Haji (TH) yesterday paid tithe zakat amounting to
RM1,150,280.61 to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) for the financial year of 2017.
This amount was an increase of 11.65 per cent as compared to the 2016 financial year.
TH Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dato Badlisyah Abdul Ghani handed over the zakat payment to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud during a brief ceremony held in the Astana Negeri yesterday.
According to Badlisyah, TH has always complied with the zakat payment early every year in order for such gesture to give convenience and benefits for all zakat programmes and those related needy groups.
On the amount of zakat payments received in 2017 by TH, there was an increase of 12.14 per cent (RM67.6 million) as compared to RM60.3 million received in 2016.
Also present during the event were Baitul and Wakaf president Datu Haji Putit Matzen, Acting Director of Sarawak Islamic Religious Department Al Fadil Ustaz Haji Khalidi Ibrahim and Sarawak TH Director Zaiton Mohd Yusoff.
