YALA (Thailand): Thai police have arrested a local man suspected to be involved in a car bomb explosion in Yala, southern Thailand, early Sunday morning that had claimed a woman’s life.

Bannan Sata police chief Colonel Ranon Surawit said the 27-year-old was arrested last night near the Bannan Sata police’s residential building.

“We have arrested a male suspect and investigations found that he was working as a technical officer with the Than To Municipal Council,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Monday.

Ranon said the suspect has been sent to the 41 Wang Praya Raman ranger camp for further investigation.

“All the injured victims are being treated at Bannang Sata Hospital and efforts to track down the individuals and groups involved in the attack are ongoing,” he said.

Ranon said the 45-year-old woman who was killed in the explosion was a kindergarten teacher.
