ALOR SETAR: The family of Wan Mohd Amirul Adib Wan Mohd Subhi, 22, detained in Thailand for having a walkie-talkie on Dec 14, needs an additional contribution of RM10,000 to bring him back today.

His mother, Siti Zubaidah Saad, 48, said the fund was needed to meet additional costs other than the bail amount of RM51,000 which had been collected via public donations prior to this.

“We will go to Thailand tomorrow (today) to bring him home and we need additional funds for expenses there including cost of a lawyer, RM50 daily detention charge and others,” she told reporters in Taman Golf here last Saturday.

Siti Zubaidah said that the last time she met her third child of five siblings was on Dec 27 at the detention centre in Nathawi, Thailand.

Wan Mohd Amirul Adib, who was a freshie tourist guide, was detained at a road block in Sadao for having a walkie talkie, a serious offence in Thailand, when taking seven tourists from Perak on Dec 14.
