We continue to despoil the earth
Causing havoc and destruction all over
Choking ourselves and others
And polluting our rivers and seas
Giving way to our selfishness
Tumbling along to an inevitable end
Or we can start caring for the earth
Treating her as our home, our garden
One filled with beauty and wonder
A place of refuge for all sentient beings
The Eden we deserve and meant for
Beholden as true human beings
Instead of despoiling nature as gifted us
Have some mindfulness
And a sense of compassion
Be the trusted steward, we are meant to be
Caring for this precious heritage
Common to all sentient beings
