KUCHING: The season of Christmas is not just about receiving presents or enjoying the food, but it’s also about love for our family, friends, and the less fortunate.

This was said by Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Professor, Dr Sim Kui Hian while attending the launching of the Spring Shopping Mall’s ‘Merry Poppins Christmas!’ here on Thursday night.

During his speech, Sim thanked the management of the shopping mall for their corporate social responsibility (CSR) in spreading some cheer to help the children of the Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (PERKATA).

“I invite all families in Kuching to come to the Spring so they can share the love and merriment with family and friends and to help the less fortunate,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Spring Management Services Sdn Bhd general manager, Datin Christine Ling explained that the theme for this year’s Christmas decorations was inspired by the classic Disney musical film ‘Mary Poppins’.

“This movie teaches us the very valuable life lesson that no matter how caught up you are with life, family should always come first.

“As a family mall, we preach this value heavily and to most people, Christmas is a heartwarming time spent together with family, friends, and loved ones,” she said.

Shoppers can help in the mall’s CSR by visiting the mall’s Centre Court concourse and view the children’s Christmas wishlist which will be in the form of ornaments hung on the Christmas tree.

In addition to that, the shopping mall will also be rewarding shoppers with attractive redemption when they spend from RM400 and above in a single receipt, mall-wide.
