SIBU: The Stage 3.0 which will take place from tomorrow to April 9 at Rejang Esplanafe here is targeting more than 10,000 spectators to come and watch the performances throughout the three nights of the programme.
The chairman of The Stage 3.0 organizers Alex Kong said The Stage 1.0 managed to attract more than 4,000 spectators while The Stage 2.0 had approximately 6,000 spectators.
“We believe we can attract more than 10,000 spectators to attend The Stage 3.0,” he said at a press conference held at the Sibu Digital Innovation Hub in Lorong Kuda 2 here yesterday.
The Stage is jointly organised by Hyper Young and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Seduan in collaboration with the Yartist Club, in addition to being supported by N.51 Bukit Assek Service Centre and the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).
According to Kong, The Stage, which was inspired by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, provides a platform for the local youth who have talent in singing, dancing and performing.
He said the purpose of this long term project is to set up a platform ecosystem with regularity in exploration, collaboration and performance by gathering all the talents.
He said the Stage sees itself as a platform to encourage Sibu performers daring to dream and giving a chance for exposure working together with the professional creative media agency.
The opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, who is also Piasau assemblyman. Also expected to attend is SMC chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horth.
“We invite more young people to participate in this event so as to unearth their talent . We invite everyone to the Rejang Esplanade from April 7 to 9, from 7 pm to 10 pm,” he explained.
Meanwhile according to Chieng, The Stage 3.0 with the slogan ‘Let’s Go Dreamer’ is a programme organised for the youth here to show their talents on a stage or platform.
“We want to make The Stage a platform for the youth to show their talent or skills on a better stage or professionally,” he said.
He thanked SMC for giving permission to use the Rejang Esplanade to organise The Stage all this time.
Chieng also promised to allocate Rural Transformation Project (RTP) funds to upgrade the Rejang Esplanade, as well as become an activity park for the local youth.
Also present were Yartist Club president Johnson Ling and president of JCI Seduan Ngu Koh Kit.
